immergrüner, ausladender, hoher Baum bis zu 25 m mit  wechselständig angeordneten Blättern, bestehend aus bis zu 6 paarig angeordneten, breit ovalen bis lanzettlichen, tiefgrünen, unterseits hellgrünen Blättern mit auffälliger Nervatur und einem endständigen Blättchen. Die kleinen grünlich-cremefarbenen Blüten erscheinen in aufrechten, end- oder achselständigen Rispen, denen eßbare grüne, bei Reife schwarze wohlschmeckende Steinfrüchte folgen
