ein- oder auch zweijähriger, krautiger Schlinger bis zu 18 m mit wechselständig angeordneten, 3-zähligen, gefiederten Blättern, bestehend aus bis zu 19 cm langen und 16,5 cm breiten, eiförmigen bis elliptischen, tiefgrünen Blättchen. Die purpurfarbenen Blüten erscheinen an bis zu 32 cm lang herabhängenden Blütenrispen in den Blattachseln
Verwendung: Auszüge der Samen und Pflanzenteile werden als Aphrodisiakum, Antidepressivum, bei Schlangenbissen und gegen die Parkinsonsche Krankheit verwendet. Die Samen finden geröstet als Kaffeeersatz Verwendung!

Overwintering: Older specimens bright at approx. 15°C and according to ambient temperature keep slightly moist always.
