immergrüner, Strauch oder kleiner Baum bis zu 4 m mit wechselständig angeordneten, bis zu 50 cm langen, schmal elliptischen bis lanzettlichen, glänzend tiefgrünen Blättern mit auffälliger Nervatur, die gehäuft am Ende der Zweige erscheinen. Der Neuaustrieb ist bronzefarben. Die bis zu 10 cm großen, duftenden, wachsartigen, pinkfarbenen Blüten mit purpurfarbenen Staubgefäßen erscheinen direkt am Holz (Kauliflorie)
