immergrüner Strauch bis zu 2 m gegenständig angeodneten, dicken, ovalen, oberseits tiefgrünen, unterseits helleren Blättern. Der Neuaustrieb ist gelbgrün. Die kleinen, duftenden weißen Blüten mit herausragenden Staubgefäßen erscheinen in den Blattachseln, gefolgt von eßbaren, aromatischen, bei Reife gerippten ovalen, gelben bis gelborangefarbenen kleinen, saftigen Früchten. Das Fruchtfleisch soll nach Aprikose und Mango gemischt schmecken
