Synonyme: Microcitrus australasica

immergrüner, vielverzweigter, ausladender, dorniger Strauch oder kleiner Baum bis zu 4 m mit wechselständig angeordneten, ledrigen, bis zu 4 cm langen und 2,5 cm breiten, rundlichen, tiefgrünen Blättern, die bei Zerdrücken einen aromatischen Duft verströmen. Die weißen Blüten mit rosafarbenen Knospen erscheinen einzeln in den Blattachseln. Aus den Blüten entwickeln sich eßbare, bis zu 8 cm lange, grüne, bei Reife braun-beige schattierte Früchte mit dünner Schale und grünem, prickeldem, perlenartigem Fruchtfleisch, das in Form und Konsistenz an Kaviar erinnert!
Verwendung: Die Früchte werden frisch verzehrt oder zu Desserts, in Getränken, Fisch- und Fleischgerichten verarbeitet.

Sowing Mix: Coir or sowing mix + sand or perlite
Germination Temperature: ca. 20-25°C
Location: bright + keep constantly moist, not wet
Germination Time: ca. 3-6 weeks
Irrigation: in the growing season regularly water
Fertilization: biweekly 0,2%ig with citrus fertilizer
Pests: Aphids, Spider mites > especially under glass
Substrate: slightly acid, humus substrate (pH 5.5 6.5) + sand or perlite
Culture: bright at approx. 15-20°C + keep constantly moist
Overwintering: Older specimens bright at approx. 5-10°C and according to ambient temperature keep slightly moist always. Temperatures around freezing point are well tolerated.
Note: Bonsai suitable!
