schnellwüchsiger, knollenbildender, krautiger Ranker bis zu 10 m mit stacheligen Stengeln und gegenständig angeordneten, 3-geteilten, ovalen, zugespitzten, tiefgrünen Blättern. Die achselständigen, kleinen, hellen gelblich-grünen Blüten erscheinen in langen, hängenden Rispen.
Diese Art ist giftig im frischen Zustand. Es bedarf eine sorgfältige Verarbeitung um die Knollen eßbar zu machen!
