immergrüner, kleiner Strauch bis zu 3 m oder Baum bis zu 20 m mit ausladender, dichter, runder Krone und spiralförmig oder auch wechselständig angeordneten, bis zu 17 cm langen und 8 cm breiten, elliptischen - länglich elliptischen, glänzend tiefgrünen Blättern. Die süßlich duftenden, kleinen, weiß-pink getönten, 5-petaligen Blüten erscheinen meist paarweise am Ende der Triebe in vielblütigen Rispen, gefolgt von ca. 5 cm langen und 3 cm breiten, eiförmigen gelb-roten, bei Reife braunen, süßlich schmeckenden Steinfrüchten
