immergrüner, kleiner, krautiger, in alle Teilen bedornter Strauch bis zu 1,5 m mit wechselständig angeordneten Blättern, die sich sowohl aus paarig als auch unpaarig angeordneten, bis zu 20 cm langen und 18 cm breiten, eiförmigen tiefgrünen Blättchen zusammensetzen. Die kleinen weißen Blüten erscheinen in lockeren Büscheln. Aus den Blüten entwickeln sich eßbare, kleine, rundliche, haarige, bis zu 3,5 cm ø große, bei Reife gelbe oder orange-gelbe Früchte
