immergrüner oder auch laubabwerfender, buschiger Strauch bis ca. 2,5 m mit gegenständig angeordneten, ovalen, spitz zulaufenden tiefgrünen, am Rand gesägten Blättern und auffälliger Nervatur. Die duftenden, weißen Blüten mit herausragenden goldgelben Staubgefäßen erscheinen in dichten Dolden in den Blattachseln, gefolgt von hellrosa bis weißen, oder weinroten, perlenartigen Früchten
