immergrüner, buschiger Strauch bis zu 4 m mit wechselständig angeordneten, bis zu 3 cm langen, nadelförmigen, grau-grünen oder tiefgrünen Blättern. Die einseitig oder auch kreisförmig angeordneten Blüten bestehen aus leuchtend roten Bündeln unzähliger Staubfäden mit goldfarbenen Staubbeuteln und erscheinen in bis zu 20 cm langen Ähren am ausgereiften Holz

Overwintering: Ältere Exemplare hell bei ca. 5-10ºC und nur soviel gießen, daß der Wurzelballen nicht völlig austrocknet. Temperaturen um dern Gefrierpunkt werden durchaus vertragen.
