schnellwüchsiger, laubabwerfender Kletterstrauch bis zu 3 m, selten halbimmergrüner Baum bis zu 8 m mit gelblich-braun-weißer Rinde, horizontal angeordneten, starren, dornigen Zweigen und gegenständig angeordneten, 3-5-gelappten, kleinen ovalen bis eiförmigen, ca. 5 cm langen tiefgrünen Blättern. Die kurzgestielten, großen, glockenförmig gebogenen, gelben oder hell schwefelgelben Blüten erscheinen in bis zu 5 cm langen, verzweigten Rispen am Ende der Zweige
