immergrüner, mehrjähriger Ranker bis zu 5 m mit 3- bis 5-gelappten, glänzend tiefgrünen, leicht behaarten Blättern, die bei Druck einen starken Duft verströmen. Die creme-weißen Blüten mit 2-3-reihigem, an der Basis purpurfarbenem Strahlenkranz erscheinen in den Blattachseln, gefolgt von eßbaren. kleinen, ovalen, süßen, roten Früchten. Sowohl Früchte als auch Blüten werden von klebrigen Deckblättern geschützt und können Insekten fangen!
