immergrüner Strauch oder kleiner Baum bis zu 6 m mit rotbrauner Rinde und gegenständig angeordneten, ledrigen, bis zu 15 cm langen und 5,5 cm breiten, elliptischen, verkehrt-, oder schmal eiförmigen, oberseits tiefgrünen, unterseits helleren Blättern und gewellten Blatträndern. Die glockenförmigen, gelb-grünen Blüten erscheinen in kleinen Büscheln in den Blattachseln, denen eßbare, bis zu 1,2 cm lange, längliche, bei Reife orange-rote Früchte folgen
