immergrüner Strauch oder kleiner Baum bis zu 8 m (junge Zweige mit Härchen besetzt) und gegenständig angeordneten, elliptischen, oberseits glänzend tiefgrünen, unterseits helleren Blättern. Die röhrenförmigen, gelb-orangefarbenen Blüten erscheinen in dichten Büscheln am Ende der Triebe, gefolgt von urnenförmigen, grünen, bei Reife braunen, holzigen Früchten, die über einen langen Zeitraum am Baum verbleiben
