rhizombildende Pflanze bis zu 40 cm mit oftmals holzigen Wurzeln und wechselständig angeordneten, langgestielten, 7-9 gelappten, bis zu 8 cm langen und 7 cm breiten, tiefgrünen Blättern mit rötlich gezackten Rändern. Die 6 cm großen, leuchtend gelben oder lachsorangefarbenen Blüten mit kastanienbraunem Zentrum und dunklen Staubgefäßen erscheinen am Ende der Triebe
