laubabwerfende, mehrjährige Zwiebelpflanze bis zu 80 cm mit grundständigen, wechselständig angeordneten, zweizeiligen, flachen, fleischigen, mittel- bis tiefgrünen Blättern. Der aufrechte Blütenstand besteht aus kurzgestielten, zart nach Vanille duftenden, trichterförmigen, weißen Blüten mit tief violett, braun, schwarz oder auch grau gefleckten Blütenblättern, gekräuseltem Rand und strahlend orangefarbenen Staubbeuteln
