mehrjährige, immergrüne, rhizombildende Staude bis zu 5 m mit langgestielten, tiefgrünen Blättern und langen, hängenden Blütenständen, bestehend aus 10 zweizeilig bis spiralförmig angeordneten ziegelroten Brakteen, die die eher unscheinbaren gelben Blüten umhüllen

Pre-Treatment: roughen, pour hot water over the seeds + soak ca. 24-48 h
Sowing Time: all year round

Sowing Mix: Coir or sowing mix + sand or perlite
Alternative: in a zip bag with damp paper towels > until germination takes place
Germination Temperature: ca. 27-30°C
Location: bright + keep constantly moist, not wet
Germination Time: ca. 4-24 weeks > irregular
Irrigation: in the growing season regularly water
Fertilization: monthly 0,2%ig or long-term fertilizer
Pests: Scale insects, Spider mites > especially under glass
Substrate: humus soil + sand or perlite
Culture: bright at around 20-25°C + keep constant slightly moist + high humidity
Overwintering: Mature specimens at least 15-25°C, with high humidity and the substrate is constant only slightly moist. Lower temperatures by 5°C, are only briefly tolerated.
Note: Remove withered leaves only when they are completely brown, because the plant can still use their nutrients.
