mehrjähriger, immergrüner, mehrstämmiger Kletterstrauch bis ca. 4 m mit ovalen, glänzend tiefgrünen, sehr variablen Blättern, die sowohl gegenständig, wechselständig oder auch spiralförmig angeordnet sein können. Der Neuaustrieb ist purpurfarben getönt. Die röhrenförmigen, strahlend orange-roten Blüten mit weit herausragenden Staubfäden und rötlichen Staubbeuteln erscheinen an einem aufrechten Blütenstand mit dichten Büscheln
