laubabwerfender, zweihäusiger, hoher Strauch oder Baum bis 7 m, am Naturstandort bis zu 20 m mit schirmförmiger Krone und gegenständig angeordneten, aromatisch duftenden, bis zu 45 cm langen, unpaarig gefiederten Blättern, die sich aus bis zu 9, manchmal bis zu 11 paarig angeordneten, ca. 18 cm langen und 10 cm breiten, breit eiförmigen bis lanzettlichen, oberseits tiefgrünen, unterseits helleren Blättchen und einem endständigen Blatt zusammensetzen mit gelber Herbstfärbung. Die ca. 1 cm großen, weißen Blüten erscheinen in langgestielten, vielverzweigten Dolden am Ende der Triebe
