laubabwerfender, ausladender Baum bis ca. 6 m (selten bis zu 14 m) mit flaschenförmig geschwollenem Stamm und großen, langgestielten, 5-9 handförmig geteilten, bis zu 13 cm langen und 5 cm breiten, elliptischen, tiefgrünen Blättern. Die duftenden, bis zu 15 cm großen, aufrecht sitzenden, wachsartigen, weißen bis creme-weißen Blüten mit zurückgeschlagenen Petalen und herausragenden Staubfäden erscheinen in den Blattachseln, gefolgt von eßbaren, ca. 10 cm großen, bei Reife, bräunlich-schwarzen, kugelförmigen Früchten mit einem intensiven, limonadenähnlichen Geschmack

Fertilization: monthly 0,1%ig with cactus fertilizer
Substrate: Cactus or potting soil + 2/3 sand or perlite
Culture: bright at approx. 15-20ºC + keep slightly moist only
Overwintering: Older specimens bright at about 15°C and according to ambient temperature in larger intervals and only water in small quantities that the root ball not dries out completely. During the leafless time keep almost dry.
