immergrüner, ausladender hoher Strauch oder kleiner Baum bis ca. 5 m mit wechselständig angeordneten, bis zu 14 cm langen und 3 cm breiten, lanzettlichen, glänzend tiefgrünen Blättern (im Jugendstadium gegenständig angeordnet, ca.11 cm lang, eiförmig bis breit-lanzettlich, blau-grün). Die ca. 1,5 cm großen weiß, rosa, lila oder violettfarbenen.Blüten erscheinen in Rispen manchmal in Dolden am Ende der Triebe
