knollenbildender, krautiger Ranker bis zu ca. 5 m mit behaarten Stengeln und wechselständig angeordneten Blättern, die sich aus 3-geteilten, bis zu 20 cm langen und 20 cm breiten, breit-ovalen bis rautenförmigen, sattgrünen Blättchen, oftmals am Rand gezahnt oder gelappt, zusammensetzen. Die kleinen, weißen bis malve-violettfarbenen Schmetterlingsblüten erscheinen in bis zu 70 cm langen, lockeren, überhängenden, endständigen Rispen.
Verwendung: Die stärkereiche Wurzelknollen werden als Gemüse verzehrt
