mehrjährige, immergrüne, rhizombildende Staude bis zu 3 m mit schlankem, rot-purpurfarbenem Pseudostamm und ca. 14 cm langen Blattstielen mit bis zu 1,25 m langen und 22 cm breiten, schmal elliptischen, wachsartigen, oberseits sattgrünen, unterseits mittelgrünen Blättern und einem bis zu 1,5 m langen hängenden Blütenstand mit orange-roten Deckblättern, gefolgt von einem 2-reihigem Fruchtstand mit ca. 5-8 hellgelben, bei Reife gelben, bis zu 8 cm langen, flaschenhalsförmigen Früchten mit weißem Fruchtfleisch
