Javanisches Patchouli, Patschuli

schnellwüchsige, mehrjährige, krautige Pflanze bis zu 40 cm mit gegenständig angeordneten, aromatisch duftenden, bis zu 7,5 cm großen, herzförmigen, am Rand gesägten, sattgrünen Blättern. Die eher unscheinbaren, kleinen weißen Blüten erscheinen in aufrechten, verzweigten Rispen in den Blattachseln.
Verwendung: Aus den Blättern wird das bekannte Patchouli-Öl gewonnen, In Asien bekannt als Heilpflanze mit antiseptischer und antirheumatischer Wirkung oder auch zum aromatisieren von alkoholischen Getränken.
