immergrüner Strauch oder kleiner Baum bis zu 7 m mit gegenständig angeordneten, länglich ovalen, spitz zulaufenden, glänzend tiefgrünen Blättern, der Neuaustrieb ist rötlich gefärbt. Die ca. 1 cm großen, creme-weißen, Blüten mit zahlreichen Staubgefäßen erscheinen in den Blattachseln, gefolgt von eßbaren, gelben, bei Reife ca. 3 - 4 cm großen dunklen Früchten mit dunklerem Fruchtfleisch und etwas süßerem Geschmack als die normale E. uniflora
