immergrüner, mehrjähriger Ranker mit bis zu 12 cm langen, ungelappten, länglich-ovalen, tiefgrünen Blättern und hängenden, duftenden, bis zu 7 cm großen, weißlich-purpur-violetten Blüten mit 6-reihigem, purpur-violett-weiß gebändertem Strahlenkranz. Aus den Blüten entwickeln sich ovale, bis zu 8 cm lange und 4 cm breite, dünnschalige, essbare, bei Reife gelbe bis orangefarbene Früchte mit weißem Fruchtfleisch
