immergrüne, verholzende Liane bis zu 60 m mit starken Ranken und kurzgestielten, gegenständig angeordneten, ledrigen, länglich-ovalen bis lanzettlichen, oberseits glänzend tiefgrünen, unterseits helleren Blättern mit auslaufender Spitze. Die gelblich-weißen Blüten mit kurzer Röhre und sternförmig angeordneten, schmalen Petalen erscheinen in kleinen Büscheln in den Blattachseln. Aus den Blüten entwickeln sich eßbare, bis zu 15 cm ø baseballgroße, grüne, bei Reife goldgelbe bis orange-gelbe, hartschalige Früchte mit orange-gelbem, weichem, saftigem Fruchtfleisch und leicht säuerlichem Geschmack, ähnlich einem Orangen-Sorbet
