immergrüner, buschiger Strauch mit ausladenden, 4-kantigen Zweigen bis zu 4 m (in Kübelkultur bis zu 2 m) und gegenständig angeordneten, bis zu 30 cm langen und 11 cm breiten, eiförmig-länglichen bis elliptischen, zugespitzten, tiefgrünen Blättern mit fein oder grob gezähnten Blatträndern. Die ca. 2,5 cm großen, weißen, bläulichen oder violetten Blüten mit vier bläulichen Kronblättern und weit herausragenden, gebogenen ebenfalls bläulichen Staubfäden erscheinen in zahlreichen Trugdolden an bis zu 25 cm langen, hohen Rispen am Ende der Triebe

Overwintering: Older specimens bright at approx. 10-15°C and just so much water that the root ball not dries out completely.
