immergrüner Strauch oder kleiner Baum bis ca. 4 m mit bis zu 4 cm langen, verkehrt lanzettlichen, tiefgrünen Blättern mit nach unten gerollten Blatträndern, die meist gehäuft am Ende der Zweige erscheinen. Die grünlichen Blüten erscheinen in Büscheln unterhalb der Blätter am alten Holz, aus denen sich bis zu 10 cm lange ovale, bei Reife schwarze Früchte entwickeln
