schnellwüchsiger, immergrüner, dichtbelaubter Strauch bis zu 1,8 m mit wechselständig angeordneten, bis zu 16 cm langen, ovalen bis elliptischen, ledrigen, oberseits glänzend tiefgrünen, unterseits helleren Blättern. Die duftenden, purpurfarbenen, stieltellerförmigen Blüten mit langer Kronröhre und flachen Kronblättern mit weißem Schlund erscheinen einzeln oder paarweise in den Blattachseln und verfärben sich beim Verblühen über hellblau zu weiß
