immergrüner Ranker mit wechselständig angeordneten, bis zu 15 cm langen, ungelappten, zart behaarten, am Rand gesägten Blättern und bis zu 12 cm großen, scharlachroten Blüten mit 3-reihigem, purpur-rotem, an der Basis weißem Strahlenkranz, gefolgt von eßbaren, bei Reife gelben bis orangefarbenen, grünlich gesprenkelten oder gestreiften Früchten
