Die bis zu 8 cm großen, strahlend roten Blüten mit 5-reihigem, purpurfarbenem Strahlenkranz erscheinen in den Blattachseln. Aus den Blüten entwickeln sich ovale, eßbare, bis zu 5,5 cm lange und 3,5 cm breite, bei Reife gelblich-grüne Früchte
