immergrüner, hoher Strauch oder kleiner Baum bis zu 6 m mit wechselständig angeordneten, silbrig-grauen, samtig behaarten tiefgrünen Blättern. Die bis zu 22 cm großen, hellrosa bis purpurroten Blüten mit dunklem Zentrum, umgeben von einer schmalen roten Linie erscheinen in den Blattachseln
