immergrüner, hoher, vielverzweigter Baum bis zu 35 m mit runder, dichter Krone, gegenständig angeordneten, bis zu 35 cm langen und 7 cm breiten, länglich-elliptischen bis länglich-lanzettlichen, ledrigen, oberseits glänzend sattgrünen, unterseits matt hellgrünen Blättern die in Quirlen angeordnet am Ende der Triebe erscheinen. Die zahlreichen, süßlich duftenden, kleinen weißen Blüten erscheinen in Dolden am Zweigende. Aus den Blüten entwickeln sich kleine, bei Reife schwarze Früchte
