immergrüner Strauch oder kleiner Baum bis ca. 10 m mit grauer Rinde und gegenständig angeordneten, kurzgestielten, bis zu 7,5 cm langen, elliptischen, hellgrünen Blättern. Die winzigen, zart duftenden, grünlich-gelben Blüten erscheinen in achselständigen Büscheln, denen purpurfarbene, bei Reife schwarze Früchte folgen
