mehrjährige, langsamwüchsige, während der Trockenzeit laubabwerfende Pflanze bis zu 1,8 m mit dicken, unregelmäßig verzweigten, schwarzen Stämmen, dicht bewachsen mit faserigen Blattbasen und riemenförmigen, langen, lanzettlichen, hellgrünen Blättern in Büscheln am Ende der Stämme. Die hellvioletten bis malvenfarbenen Blüten erscheinen in Büscheln am Ende der Triebe und verströmen einen süßlichen Duft.
Diese Auferstehungspflanzen verlieren während der Trockenzeit ihr Laub, doch sobald es regnet oder bei Kübelkultur ausreichend gegossen werden, ergrünen sie wieder innerhalb von 24-72 Std.
