immergrüner Liane bis zu 20 m mit weinlaubähnlichen, 3-gelappten, oberseits glänzend tiefgrünen, unterseits fein flaumig behaarten Blättern mit gesägten Blatträndern. Die großen hängenden, leuchtend rosafarbenen Blüten mit einem 1-reihigen, purpur-weißem Strahlenkranz erscheinen einzeln an bis zu 10 cm langen Blütenstielen in den Blattachseln. Aus den Blüten entwickeln sich länglich ovale bis zu 14 cm lange und bis zu 4,5 cm breite, bei Reife gelb bis orange-gelbe Früchte.
Der Unterschied zu P. mollissima oder mixta besteht darin, daß die Nebenblätter klein sind und früh abfallen. Die Passiflora tarminiana hat fast immer rosafarbenen Blütenblätter.
