halbimmergrüner bis laubabwerfender, bedornter Baum bis zu 15 m mit wechselständig angeordneten Blättern, die sich aus drei einzelnen, breit-ovalen bis elliptischen Blättchen zusammensetzen. Die creme-gelben Blüten mit strahlend gelben Staubfäden erscheinen in dichten Büscheln am Ende der Triebe am meist unbelaubten Holz
