kleiner, dorniger Baum bis zu 6 m mit wechselständig angeordneten, bis zu 9 cm langen, breit lanzettlichen, oberseits glänzend tiefgrünen Blättern. Die kleinen weißen Blüten erscheinen in den Blattachseln, gefolgt von eßbaren, rundlichen bis ovalen, bei Reife orangefarbenen Beerenfrüchten mit saftigem, süßem oder säuerlichem Fruchtfleisch
