laubabwerfender, konischer, offenkroniger Baum bis zu 25 m mit grau-brauner, in Längsstreifen abblätternder Rinde und wechselständig angeordneten, ca. 60 cm langen Blättern, bestehend ca. 35 cm langen, 5-zähligen, die oberen 3 verkehrt eiförmig, die unteren 2 kleineren oval-länglich lanzettlichen, tiefgrünen, am Rand fein gesägten Blättchen und goldgelber Herbstfärbung. Die männlichen, grünlich-gelben Blüten (Kätzchen) sitzen in bis zu 15 cm langen herabhängenden Rispen am Ende der alten Triebe, die weiblichen, kleinen, ebenfalls grünlich-gelben Blüten erscheinen in endständigen Blütenähren mit bis zu 7 Einzelblüten am Ende der Neutriebe, gefolgt von eßbaren, bis zu 6 cm langen, kugeligen Steinfrüchten mit dicker Schale, die je eine Nuss mit süßlichem Geschmack enthalten

Overwintering: After this period, older specimens can be planted safely outdoors, preferably in the vicinity of waters.
