laubabwerfender, ausladender Baum bis ca. 10 m mit gegenständig angeordneten, handförmig geteilten Blättern, die sich aus bis zu 5-7, ca. 10 cm langen elliptischen und lanzettlichen tiefgrünen Blättchen zusammensetzen. Die großen dunkelgelben, trichterförmigen Blüten mit rötlicher Zeichnung erscheinen in dichten Büscheln am Ende der Triebe, meist vor dem Laubaustrieb
