immergrüner oder auch laubabwerfender, ausladender Baum bis ca. 10 m mit gegenständig angeordneten, handförmig geteilten Blättern, die sich aus bis zu 5-7, ca. 10 cm langen lanzettlichen tiefgrünen Blättchen zusammensetzen. Die großen leuchtend gelben, trichterförmigen Blüten mit rötlicher Zeichnung erscheinen in dichten Büscheln am Ende der Triebe an meist unbelaubten Bäumen
