immergrüner Strauch oder kleiner Baum bis zu 3 m mit gegenständig angeordneten, ovalen bis elliptischen, ca. 9 cm langen und 5 cm breiten, ledrigen, glänzend tiefgrünen, am Rand gewellten Blättern. Die ca. 2 cm großen rosaroten oder auch weißen Blüten erscheinen einzeln in den Blattachseln oder an bis zu 15 cm langen Trauben, gefolgt von eßbaren, bei Reife kleinen, kirschförmigen, strahlend roten Steinfrüchten
