Over many years, we have had the pleasure of accompanying you on your gardening journey with exotic seed rarities and plants from around the world. Watching things grow together has brought us great joy. But every project has its time—and for us, the moment has come to step back. Due to health reasons, it is with a heavy heart that we have decided to permanently close the sunshine-seeds.de online shop and enter our well-deserved retirement. This decision was not an easy one for us. However, our health now requires our full attention. Synonyme: Carpodiptera minor, Hymenocardia mollis var. glabra

immergrüner Strauch oder kleiner Baum bis zu 9 m mit rundlicher Krone und wechselständig angeordneten, dünn ledrigen, gestielten, länglich-elliptischen bis zu 8,75 cm langen und 3,75 cm breiten, tiefgrünen Blättern. Die rötlich-gelben, männlichen Blüten erscheinen in bis zu 6,5 cm langen, hängenden Ähren, die grünen, weiblichen Blüten in den Blattachseln. Aus den Blüten entwickeln sich paarweise, verkehrt herzförmige, ca. 2,5 cm lange und 3,75 cm breite, rötlich-braune Früchte mit saurem Geschmack
Verwendung: Die Früchte werden gern roh von Kinder gegessen, Blüten bieten Nektar und Pollen für Bienen, der Baum für die Herstellung von Brennholz und Holzkohle, die Rinde dient zum Gerben, in der Medizin werden Tannine der Stammrinde gegen Durchfall und Ruhr verwendet, zur Behandlung von Wunden, die Hymenocardia acida Extrakte zeigen antibaktierelle Wirksamkeit
