immergrüner oder auch laubabwerfender Baum bis ca. 10 m mit ausladender Krone und wechselständig angeordneten, ledrigen, bis zu 10 cm langen und 12 cm breiten, tiefgrünen, unterseits grau-grünen, gelappten, an der Basis leicht herzförmigen Blättern. Die röhrenförmigen, grünlich-weißen Blüten mit pinkfarbenem Saum erscheinen an rötlichen Stielen in hängenden, kleinen, 2-3-blütigen Büscheln in den Blattachseln
