Dear plant and garden enthusiasts,
Over many years, we have had the pleasure of accompanying you on your gardening journey with exotic seed rarities and plants from around the world. Watching things grow together has brought us great joy. But every project has its time—and for us, the moment has come to step back. Due to health reasons, it is with a heavy heart that we have decided to permanently close the sunshine-seeds.de online shop and enter our well-deserved retirement. This decision was not an easy one for us. However, our health now requires our full attention. We would like to thank you from the bottom of our hearts for your many years of loyalty, the trust you have placed in us, and your enthusiasm for our green rarities! Important information regarding the shop closure:
Our shop will remain open until September 30, 2026.
The last day to place an order is September 25, 2026. Please feel free to use this time to secure your favorite seeds one last time.
Processing: All paid orders received by September 25, 2026, will, of course, be processed, packed, and shipped reliably as usual.

Hechychium sind mehrjährige, rhizombildende Stauden aus der Familie Zingiberaceae (Ingwergewächsen) und werden am Naturstandort bis zu 4 m hoch. Die meist lanzettlichen, tiefgrünen Blätter sind wechselständig angeordnet und bekommen aufrechte, hohe Blütenstände.
Viele der Arten und Hybriden sind recht kältetolerant und benötigen im Sommer einen sonnigen bis halbschattigen Standort. Das Substat sollte konstant, feucht gehalten werden und von Mai bis August/September eine wöchentliche Düngergabe oder einen Langzeitdünger erhalten.
Bei kühler Überwinterung das Substrat nur leicht feucht halten, d.h. es wird nur sporadisch in kleinen Mengen und größeren Abständen gewässert, aber das Substrat nicht völlig austrocknen lassen. Ist der Standort dunkel, kann die Staude einziehen und die Blätter welken. Die verwelkten Stengel werden knapp über dem Substrat abgeschnitten. In der Regel treiben die Pflanzen im Frühjahr wieder aus.
Die Vermehrung erfolgt über Samen oder durch Teilung.
