immergrüner Kletterstrauch oder kleiner Baum mit gegenständig angeordneten, großen, elliptischen, tiefgrünen Blättern mit auffälliger Nervatur. Die glockenförmigen, creme-weißen Blüten erscheinen in den Blattachseln. Aus den Blüten entwickeln sich feigenähnliche Früchte, platzen bei Reife auf und geben ihr rötlich-weißes Fruchtfleisch mit Zitronenaroma frei
