immergrüne, mehrjährige, rhizombildende Staude bis zu 60 cm mit fächerförmig angeordneten, langgestielten, ledrigen, glänzend tiefgrünen Blättern. Die strahlend gelben Blüten entwickeln sich aus den Blattscheiden, die von einem etwas kleinerem, kahnförmigen, grünen bis rötlich-violetten Hochblatt getragen werden.
Diese Varietät hat eine rote Färbung an der Basis der Blüte!
