rosettenbildende, an der Basis schwach verholzende, sukkulente Pflanze bis zu 40 cm mit spiralförmig angeordneten, Aloe ähnlichen, blau-grünen Blättern. Die sternförmigen, strahlend gelben Blüten mit gelben Staubgefäßen erscheinen in bis zu 30 cm hohen, aufrechten Rispen.
Verwendung: Aus den zerrissenen, frischen Blättern tritt ein geleeartiger Saft aus, der in Afrika als Heilsalbe gegen Verbrennungen, Wunden, Insektenstiche, Ekzeme und Hautausschläge verwendet wird. Der Saft enthält antibakterielle Wirkstoffe. Aus den frischen Blättern kann auch ein dickflüssiger Tee hergestellt werden, der gegen Erkältung, Husten und Arthritis hilft.

Irrigation: in the growing season regularly water
Fertilization: monthly 0,1%ig with cactus fertilizer
Substrate: cactus or potting soil + 1/3 grit + 1/3 sand or perlite
Culture: bright at approx. 5-10°C + keep constant slightly moist
Overwintering: Older specimens bright at approx. 0-5°C and water only in larger intervals and small quantities.
Note: drought-tolerant!
