immergrüner Strauch oder kleiner Baum bis ca. 8 m mit gegenständig angeordneten, bis zu 15 cm langen, ovalen, glänzend tiefgrünen Blättern mit auffälliger Nervatur. Die intensiv duftenden, bis zu 10 cm langen, trompetenförmigen, strahlend weißen Blüten mit grünlich-gelbem Schlund bestehen aus 5 windmühlenförmig angeordneten Petalen mit langer Röhre und erscheinen am Ende der Triebe, gefolgt von meist paarig angeordneten Früchten
